There is a powerful link between perfume and memories. And everyone has its own madeleine that gets you back to the past when it comes to that.
Maison Martin Margiela and ShowStudio teamed up for such a project- the result is an installation that examines this way of recollection. For that artistic part, illustrators were asked to make a drawing linked to a memory one of Maison’s perfumes create to them. What is interesting is the fact that something as volatile as a perfume is put together with a drawing, which makes it a lot more stable: it’s on a piece of paper, it’s there to stay.
The artists featured in the exhibition are Richard Gray, Piet Paris, Cathrine Raben Davidsen, Laura Laine, Claire Barrow, Tobie Giddio, Valerie Servais, Kukula, Rei Nadal, Tara Dougans, Amelie Hegardt, Helen Bullock, Fiona Gourlay, Stephen Doherty, Jowy Maasdamme, Josie Hall, Conrad Roset, Quentin Jones, Jo Ratcliffe, Neza Agnes Momirski, Alexandra Levasseur.
