Il me faut tout oublier
13 February – 11 May 2014
This exhibition gathers the work of two Belgium artists from different generations : a sculpteur, Berlinde de Bruyckere (born in 1964 in Ghent) and a painter, Philippe Vandenberg (1952, Ghent – 2009 Brussels), almost never exposed in France.
Berlinde de Bruyckere has chosen to provide exceptionally the curators of the exhibition Il me faut tout oublier. She has selected paintings and drawings of Philippe Vandenberg echoing his own work, introducing an intense dialogue between the two works. An imposing sculpture of wax and rags, specially made for la Maison Rouge, follows that presented in the Belgian Pavilion at the last Venice Biennale.
In 2012, works of Berlinde de Bruyckere and Philippe Vandenberg have been presented together at the exhibition Innocence is precisely : never to avoid the worst at the De Pont Museum, in Tilburg, Netherland.
