On September 28, futuristic Dutch designer Iris Van Herpen will welcome children and adults alike to participate in a series of creative design activities at Paris’ Musée d’Art Moderne.

Dubbed A Dream Scenario, this special day of design activities marks the start of a new line-up of art workshops at the Georges Pompidou Center. For the first of these back-to-school events, the museum has opted for an afternoon with designer Iris Van Herpen. Van Herpen, who admits to approaching her work much as though she were a sculptor, was nominated for the 2013 Andam prize, becoming known in 2007 after her first innovative collection appeared filled with silicone, cardboard and calf hair.

The designer frequently looks to the art world for inspiration, which caused Calais’ Cité Internationale de la Dentelle et de La Mode de Calais organization to dedicate the current exhibition at Paris’ Musée d’Art Moderne, and to the designer and give her a special day to meet visitors. As a result, on Saturday September 28 between 2pm and 6pm children and adults will be able to step into Van Herpen’s high-tech yet mystical world and to touch, feel and discover the surprising and unexpected materials that the designer chooses to use in her work. What’s more, with dance performances and film showings rounding the day off, the afternoon promises to combine learning with lots of entertainment and fun.
