The meticulously manicured gardens of Musée Rodin was host to one of the fashion world’s most extravagant demonstration of creativity and expertise: The Christian Dior SS14 Haute Couture show.
The set is the vision of creative director and producer Alexandre de Betak, founder of Bureau Betak, who opened the experience with a tangerine tinted mirror facade that reflects a distorted image of the Musée Rodin. However, inside the boxy structure an unexpected follow-up to the polished exterior happens with a cave-like catwalk.
Some might explain the space as an igloo. Others may suggest a traditional Greek clay hut. Someone on Instagram said Gehry meets Gaudi. It turns out, Betak was inspired by the rounded sculptures of famed 1950′s ceramicist named Valentine Schlegel. The curved contoured white space is topped with organic shaped skylights cut into the ceiling.
What it was, was a perfectly serene sanctuary to allow those aerated silhouettes to move with levity and swiftness.
