Elle Davies (born 1976) lives in London and for the last seven years has been transforming the UK woods into art works riddled with mystery and a certain fantastical aura. She aims through this process to explore the relationship we have with the landscape around us.

She believes that forests are potent symbols in folklore, fairy tale and myth, places of magic as well as of danger and mystery and you can clearly see hints of these qualities and descriptions being brought out in her images.

The altered landscapes become a reflection of her personal relationship with the forest that call into question the idea of landscape as a social and cultural construct.
