We’re always impressed with projects where design meets technology. With Bioplastic Fantastic the researcher Johanna Schmeer investigates new types of products that might come out from such fields like nanotechnology and biotechnology.

The project starts from a scientific discovery about the synthesis of functioning “biological” cells made from polymers and enzymes.

There are seven products that give all the nutrients needed for the body. The designer imagined them in a domestic space, staying near the objects in the house, and having shapes that makes them stand out in the multitude of objects. The objects are based on bacteria and put together non-living matter with the enzymes.
