On May 10, 2014, the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain will launch its thirtieth anniversary celebration and invites the public to discover Vivid Memories, the first exhibition of this exceptional year. In perpetual motion for five months, this exhibition brings together the community of artists with which the Fondation Cartier has built a history as a pioneer patron of the arts.

Painting, design, photography, film, folk art, video, sculpture, music, performance: Vivid Memories reflects the diversity of the line-up of the Fondation Cartier, its curiosity for creative fields and diverse thinking, its openness to the world, its unique manner of crossing the large number of artistic fields.

The exhibition Vivid Memories focuses on the works that the Fondation Cartier has collected since 1984; a living collection that is further enhanced by commissioned exhibits and that is the sign of close bonds with the artists.

As highlighted by Hervé Chandès, General Director of the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain, “While it may be a compilation of artistic works, the Fondation Cartier’s collection is also a collection of exhibits and relations with artists. This is what forms its identity: collecting works, the authors of works, relations between the Fondation and the artists, between the works and the actual place. This is why the collection will be at the heart of the anniversary for the Fondation Cartier in 2014.”
